Weird Arcana - Ego’s Dismantlement Avowal (New Spell)

Ego’s Dismantlement Avowal
Transmutation
Level: Sorcerer/Wizard 2
Components: V, S, M (poetry written in Infernal)
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 1 round/level, see text
Saving Throw: None
Spell Resistance: No

This strange dweomer literally undo the caster. By reciting verses of ancient and profane poetry written in Infernal, the caster – temporarily – eliminates his self from existence. He simply disappears; together with his clothes and equipments (only a light load, anything heavier stays). Artifacts and living beings also are immune. At the duration’s end, the caster reappears at the same spot. In fact, for the caster no time seems to pass since his original disappearance. During the spell’s duration, all divination attempts on the caster fail (in a sense he doesn’t exist in the known planes anymore). If, when the caster returns, the original spot is occupied he suffers 4d6 points of damage and is shunted to the next free space (if there isn’t free space in a 100 feet radius, the caster simply doesn’t return until all obstacles are removed).
If legends are to be believed this spell is just a poor copy of the mythical original – a dweomer crafted by the true creator and master of the Hell, who summoned this incantation upon himself and did not only disappeared, but was erased of existence.
Ego’s dismantlement avowal is a dangerous spell. Some rumors suggest that maybe this dweomer may help to retard old aging; however, others imply that it’s addictive and that, eventually, the caster comes back missing “things” (like small items, memories, the colors of his eyes etc) – until, finally, the caster doesn’t return at all.
Anyway, if constantly used (GM’s call), it does attracts hounds of Tindalos
Ego’s dismantlement avowal can’t be dismissed by the caster (which doesn’t exist for the spell’s duration). In fact, it also can’t be dispelled, but only counterspelled.

  1. I am enjoying these posts about older versions of spells / spells which are particularly unusual and dangerous. This ons is particularly cool. I like the idea of infernal poetry.

  2. @LS: Thanks! I love bizarre and strange spells; and I also believe that dangerous effects could be used to counterbalance a spell's power (althogh in Ego’s Dismantlement Avowal they're mostly flavor). I'm working already on more weird arcanica.
